Why am I running for RE-ELECTION?

Anthony Danko - Oakville Catholic TrusteeBack in 2009, the provincial government passed the Student Achievement and School Board Governance Act, more commonly known as Bill 177.

This act more clearly defined the duties of school trustees or the "elected members" of the school board.

The bill defined the main task of the board as "develop[ing] a multi-year plan aimed at achieving the goals" surrounding student achievement and stewardship.

Anthony's Results 2006-2014:

Listening to Ratepayers

The bill also called upon the elected people of a board to consult with electors and to bring their concerns to the board. Our board has recently conducted a series of "town hall" style meetings but it has not to date enacted a policy that describes how public feedback is incorporated into the strategic planning process.

Plan, Prioritize and Act

As a Trustee over the past eight years, I've focused my initiatives on 3 main areas:
1) maintaining our integrity as atruly Catholic institution;
2) investing our resources directly into student achievement;
3) strategic planning process that includes public participation

My goal over the next term will be to propose and develop a Strategic Planning Policy that helps the board and define its priorities in collaboration with the Catholic ratepayers of Oakville and Halton.
